Recreation
Management System - RMS
a) Objective
This application has been developed for small recreation facilities
to manage their services provided to clients base like college/university
students, faculty members, and/or guests. Bars and pubs are also
attractive candidates for this type of an application.
The
project was procured from our partner firm, Cybersoft Pvt Ltd.
b) Overview
The RMS is designed as a general-purpose system. The system caters
for
-- employee’s payroll,
-- game records,
-- and sale of
ticket and merchandise record.
The system is designed keeping in view that it should be generic
and provides the facility of modularizing the business rules according
to the requirements.
This system provides the facility to the employer to keep track
of the daily activities of his/her employees, including the employees'
payroll and the huors they have worked. Also, it helps to facilitate
in-house tracking of their game tables' sale and the merchandise
sold. By the end of each month the system is capable of generating
pay slips and monthly reports.
The system also maintains a history file to keep track of the
salaries of the employees and the increase in salaries. The system
provides option of individual salary record for a specific period.

One of
the modules of the system helps the operator to issue the playing
tables to the customers. The system gives up to date information
of the availability of the game table. Also, it helps in calculating
the amount to be paid by the customer depending on the time consumed.
Sale of concession tickets, deals of food courts tickets and different
products are also catered in design of UOH. Different vendors
will provide these tickets and products for the promotion purposes.
The system keeps track of the total number of tickets-in-hand
and total sale of the day. Keeping the record of lockers is also
one of the requirements and will be handled including rate, size
and expiry date.
In fact, this system
is responsible for handling most of the tasks handled in any sports
bar, café, etc. The system is designed taking in view that it should
be user friendly and easy to use. For this purpose, major emphasis
has been laid on the User Interface. Tab Controls are used on a
main navigation screen from where the user can operate the whole
system. Graphical representations are used for the ease of the user
for selection of different items, e.g., a snooker table can be assigned
by dragging an image of the table onto a virtual playing area.
The application also
has a very powerful security management feature that enables the
administrator to assign different roles to different employees after
creating any desired role so as to restrict the access rights to
individual employees.
It is important to note here that the application can be easily
modified to cater to any recreation facility. Tools Used:
MS Visual Basic, MS Access, Crystal Reports.
c) RMS Features
RMS is a powerful and easy to use tool to manage the operations
of a small to medium sized recreational facility. It uses an MS
Access database as a back-end engine and the power of MS Visual
Basic to give an excellent combination for peak performance. The
attractive user interface, ease of handling, and powerful management
capability gives the application its unique features.
